Okla-homies

So far we're loving Oklahoma City and I personally can't wait to move and have everyone come visit as soon as possible! The people are very friendly although it's hard to beat the people of South Carolina. The drivings faster and traffic moves very well as we're (more so- Ed) getting used to navigation around the city which is on a grid system.

I'm not supposed to drive Ed's company car due to not being on the insurance yet so Ed's essentially been driving me around town like Ms. Daisy! I do have to admit I saw a Taco Cabana last night on the way home from dinner, and couldn't resist but cruising the RAV4 down the street for lunch (Ed's working all day doing fleet inspections with the guy he's replacing this afternoon).
For those who haven't had fresh tortillas,
you simply haven't lived.
As far as our house hunt goes, friday we decided on the brand new house. We had written up an offer and right before we were to meet with our realtor we drove by one last time to discover a sold sign had been added to the yard. Over the weekend we got a much needed meeting with our realtor and the builders we love to negotiate a for another house to be built. I can happily say that we submitted an offer and got a verbal agreement with the builders and we are now expecting the official documents via email sometime this morning. Long story short, the new house will take roughly four months and will be a 2.0 of sorts from what we originally loved in the first house. Also it will be a custom so we will be able to choose everything about the house including a larger lot with better drainage.

Narrowing it Down

Ed's working today so nothing too much going on but the weekend should be fun. I'll do better about blogging our adventures for the blog! Here's a shot from the Thunder/Laker game we went to wednesday night. Tonight we plan to head downtown for dinner and watch game three! GO THUNDER!!!

I can hardly believe it's already friday! Ed and I have had a great first week in Oklahoma and excited to hopefully have house hunting behind us, as we are going to make our first offer this afternoon! Below is a few photos of our final top three houses we liked, including the one we hope to call home. Which do you think we'll choose?

Better than Okay

Ahhhh- so much to blog so little time! First of all, we drove straight through Arkansas yesterday and made it to Oklahoma late afternoon. After checking into the hotel we found a BBQ place (Billy Sims BBQ) across the street that was pretty awesome. After we couldn't help but try to explore the city on our own and try to find some of the houses we were excited to see.

Eddie's sandwich above had pork BBQ, hot link, and bologna.  I had the pork sammie
with "the extras" which consisted of a pickle, onions, and banana peppers!
Today we met with our OKC realtor and saw several houses from all different parts of the city. The good news is Oklahoma housing market remained really strong through the last ten years, but the bad news is the strong market doesn't have a lot currently on the market. We found a few houses today we think we could really like, and were to see several more tomorrow after Eddie meets with his new boss in the morning.

We are really enjoying getting to know Oklahoma City as things are beginning to become familiar, yet we are still taking all kinds of turn arounds! haha This afternoon we ordered tickets to tomorrow nights Oklahoma City Thunder playoff game two against the Los Angeles Lakers, were both so excited!!

Now off to dinner!

Greenville to Memphis

Good monday morning all!! Sorry it's been some time since I've blogged, we've been super crazy! So I thought I'd give a quick morning update on our current whereabouts. Last week was really a blur as I worked all week and Ed wrapped up with his training and had Michelin Sales Graduation (I'll post the trophy when I get back home)! He got all his office supplies to set up his new office as well as a new company car. The good news is he got a brand new car, the bad news- we are currently having to drive it out to Oklahoma City because he's going to need it before the movers come.

So after wrapping up as many things in Greenville as possible last week (house is STILL not on the market yet- the relocation process is ridiculous), we left yesterday morning for the half way point to Oklahoma City, Memphis Tennessee. We drove a total of nine hours yesterday driving through South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. The ride really wasn't that bad until we hit a very morning stretch in Alabama that had essential no food or stops for miles.

Fast forward to now, I'm waiting for Ed to get up and get pack up again for another fun filled day in the "Recreational Active Vehicle IV"- maybe better known to everyone else as the Rav4. haha Below is a photo from the view in our hotel this morning, the church in the distance looks so beautiful from up here.

Our trip today, Oklahoma City or bust!

ps- I just wanted to note that I don't think last week would of came out nearly as smooth without the immense help from my sister Kristen! She's been staying with me and helping me with everything  since she got out of school for the summer and is now house sitting/ keeping Behr for Ed and I- LOVE YOU KDM!

Big Week Coming Up

Eddie's finnally at the end of his sales training and is officially done this Thursday!! What a relief yet we've now got bigger fish to fry. This is my last real full week at work and we're leaving sunday for Oklahoma City to begin our search for a new house. Our current house should be listed on the market this week so keep your fingers crossed (and say prayers) that it sells in the next two weeks, I know it's unreasonable but not unrealistic. I'll keep everyone posted these next  upcoming weeks as I imagine the blogs will become more detailed and juicy!

Lastly I leave everyone with a quote that always brings me down to realize the important things, happiness and time waits for no one.

a Real Status Update

So much to do so little time!! The relocation process is finally taking off and I've been crossing off my to-do list slowly but surly moving to the next step.  Here's my checklist for all to see, although I feel like I'm really using it as a mental checkoff list so that I can avoid forgetting an small (or large!) details.

So far we have...
-Choose two possible realtors to do proposals for the house
-Choose two appraisers to come look at our house, and one alternate
-Scheduled one of the two appraisers
-Submitted for our Oklahoma realtor
-Got into contact with the Oklahoma City, OK realtor
-have painters/power washers coming tomorrow to spruce up the exteriors
-Taking longer than expected, tomorrow is day-2 of exterior work
-filled out as much paper work as possible and faxed
-Booked trip to Oklahoma City the 13th-26th
-Got word of Eddie's company car to arrive in Greenville
-Received the relocation (USB) packet via Fed-Ex
-Informed by job when I'll be in town, and my notice for transfer

The good news is Eddie is receiving a new company car (2012 Toyota Rav4), the bad news is Michelin is sending it to Greenville's North American Headquarters. Well it's not so bad, except that means were now driving to Oklahoma City May 13th instead of flying like we had planned.

I'll be flying back a little before Ed, and just got a one way flight for $159.42!! Good news for all those who will come and visit- you can name your own price and it won't break the bank.

Eat, Sleep, Live Relo

We're officially in relocation over drive.  The relocation process is so different and catawampus than just selling and buying real-estate; it's awesome on one hand someone's paying for everything but boy do they make you work for it! With everything going on it's really becoming eat, sleep, live relocation.

Going now to buy moving boxes because I can hardly stand the thought of waiting for the movers when I want to de-cludder the house to get it selling ready! Meeting with my favorite realtor of the two today and trying to make sure she has an edge so that Michelin and the relo (relocation) team choose her team to sell our house (is that kosher?), haha.

Oh, yeah and you wonder how Eddie's holding up through all this? He's doing more than fine playing golf with Michelin, while I'm running around like a crazy person he sends me a picture of a turkey he ran into on the links today. I'll admit I'm a little jelly, although he really has worked his butt off and deserves it.
