Tackling the Turkey

The good news is thanksgiving is drawing close which means two things good food and finally getting to see Ed's parents (aka my fur babies!!). Since thanksgiving is at my house this year I figured this means the "good food" falls on me, where's Grandma McMillin or Mema Sutton when you need 'em? So far I'm thinking being as though this will be the largest meal I've ever done on my own to date, I'm ordering a turkey. Go ahead and judge me but I figure two things, 1. I know I can handle all the sides hands down and 2. Earl's BBQ has a pretty yummy turkey. So here goes my game plan so far;

How could this not taste good?

Not up for discusion
-Turkey (to be ordered)
-Macaroni and Cheese
-Stuffing/ Corn Bread Dressing?
-Yummy Rolls
-Sweet Potato pie?
-Au Gratin Potato Casserole

Still up in the air
-Mash potatoes
-Green Beans
-Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread
-Oven roasted Asparagus

Taking a Breath

Finally a chance to take a breath! Ed and I have been going a hundred miles an hour these last few weeks and I thought I'd update everyone of recent happenings. First off we've moved into our new house which still blows my mind every morning I wake up because it seemed like it was never actually going to happen. We've unpacked and gotten rid of 80% of the cardboard boxes, yet those last twenty percent are really giving me a run for my money! I hope to have some interior photos up soon although with our life being so crazy I'm still working on finding everything a place.

Since the move we had some of our favorites in town and words can not describe how much fun we had as well as how badly we needed to see some familiar faces. To be honest I can't remember the last time I laughed so far for so long. Old friends couldn't of come at a better time, while we can hardly wait till we get to see our families for the holidays. Oh and speaking of holidays, this will be our first thanksgiving dinner in our house which means I got to order the turkey!

For the visual readers, here's a few shots from the past week with our friends in town :)

At the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum
with the End of the Trail by James Earle Fraser.

It was for sale... did I mention christmas is coming up soon? Hint hint

And my excitement for all things amazing at the museum was muffled as I got in trouble for taking photographs. Annnnnnnd if the museum is reading this... sorry. haha

Oklahoma state capital with the Greene's!
Kevin and I were behind the cameras for the record, haha.

We ate very well this weekend as the foodie in me is disappointed we didn't take more pictures at the restaurants. Everything at Cattlemen's was amazing and surprisingly well priced, can't wait to take Eddie's parents when they come for Thanksgiving!

Eddie and I at Cattlemen's on the left,
and Kevin and Hayley trying "Lamb Fries" on the right.

Last but not least we made it to a Oklahoma City Thunder basketball game,
we had quite an amazing night.

Sorry if I got carried away with the exclamations, everything was kind of exciting. haha

Sneak Peek!

The final count down is on, next week this time we will be homeowners (again)! With so much happening and changing everyday I thought I'd just tease with a (before and after) sneak peek of the guest bath.

Riverwind Casino Night

With all the recent moving craziness Ed and I decided we needed a mini vacation, and what better than an over night trip to Norman at the Riverwind Casino. I had been a few weeks ago with a new girl friend and decided it was something Eddie just had to experience. I'm kind of mad because I really meant to get more photos but we had a great time and was really a mid-week kick start we needed.

The front of the casino, really makes me want to go to Las Vegas ASAP.

I did not know if I was supposed to take photos inside the casino, but this was MY machine.

I had three tornados, and I was short from that fourth tornado (would of come down on the left) from a lot more dinero! Hind sight it was kind of odd I found the few tornado themed machines which had wind swept cows, barns being blown away as well as RV's. Can't wait to take visitors, we had a blast!

Interior Progress part deux

Since I've been slack with the blog and the last post was so popular,
I decided to add a few more pictures from the other day.

It's to be fairly rainy the next few days so were hoping the
interior/exterior will be painted by the end of next week.

Doors!

Closet so far; framed for mirror insert

Interior Progress

Twenty one days to go and our house is starting to look livable! Cabinets and trim are built and to be stained sometime this week. We hope to get a chance to go by in the next couple of days to check on the progress. I didn't take these to put up on the blog so i apologize for the lack of quality. Oh yeah and keep us in your prayers this all comes together in exactly three weeks from today!!

Antique Décor for $9

While were waiting ever so patiently for our house to get finished, I've been collecting furniture and decor items along the way. Thought I'd share a most recent find that involves both historical framed drawings and paying next to nothing for them!

Old drawing book I found a few months ago in a used book store on the clearance section, always thinking how I can use things and planning ahead.

You really can't beat $3 for a book from 1950!

Question: Whats better than a simple frame that has oodles of potential?

Answer: A simple frame with multiple clearance stickers from Target! You know its a must buy when you have to do a double take at the price.

Finished product all for $8.96,

Crazy savings when you think about comparable similar finds I found online starting around $40 for one! ... I am not known for my math but I'm figuring if I found these in a store I'd personally be willing to pay around twenty apiece and I've found some decent comparable framed art online for forty apiece so savings are between 78-89% off!
